Backdoors and Backstage: Politics and Photography

The whole hacking scandel has got me engrossed. It is one of those historic times

in which people will look back in fascination on all the details. My mother did

warn me over ten years ago that Mr Murdoch has far too much power for one man

(Oprah could own the world and it would be OK).

The fact that someone who has wielded such power has been called into question is

refreshing to say the least. However, it does remind me how some people of wealth and status

tend to live my different laws to a lot of us. Translate any major story like this to what

one may refer to “lower” terms. Quite simply heads would role and action would be immediate.

Such is not the case for certain individuals in government, police and media. I fear that not

everyone in this saga will get their just desserts (Cameron). I just hope that Murdoch is not allowed to

go quietly to simply return in a year and take BSKYB. It’s his plan, trust me.

T4 and Lovebox

I felt the above topics helped me put things into perspective so began with them.

My last couple of event jobs have been celeb fests. 1st, T4 on the beach

took place in Weston Super Mare. The line up included N Dubz, Example and Alexis Jordan

who gave me a high five after she remembered me from another job, (sideways looks from

other members of staff). People allowed free gifts also included the cast of 3 of Braitains biggest

exports. It was only a matter of time before I met the cast of made in Chelsea.

If I concentrate, people have a habit of gravitating toward me.

A pity it doesn’t work when I attempt the opposite!

Brands gifting included Millies Cookies where you could ice your own

and the blackberry tablet! I was well jel!

So 3000 photos later, my next job was to be backstage for two days at

Lovebox festival in Victoria Park. This was the second event I have covered

where Jessie J has pulled out. Perhaps I should take the hint. People think when

I cover these events it’s all really glam. Trust me the weather was crap and the days were long as.

Don’t get me wrong it was worth it, but don’t get it twisted! It was quite nice covering

backstage where I didn’t recognise most of the acts. Festivals are not my personal

cup of tea so I am unaware of a lot of acts on the circuit. Working for River Island,

a pop-up tent was my office for two days. Guests included Debbie Harry and Beth Ditto.

I am currently working on my July to-do list. I won’t share the details.

I decided  to push myself and career harder and thought that

posting goal lists (a well as general errands) would help me

to visualise my goals. I will let you know how it goes!

Berlin, Bourbon and Black Eyed Peas

I would liken my recent trip to Berlin to the current National Theatre production the Emperor and The Galilean.

An epic journey with both old and new friends. Fun was had, too much was drunk and mistakes were made.

All in all, I came out the other side better for it! Bumping into one of my best pals at the airport was surreal.

My actor friend has penned a play to make it’s stage debut in the new year so look out for FOG. It was a trip of contrasts

were I made new friends, bonded with old ones. Partied on the 14th floor building overlooking both sunset and sunrise

(it was orrrrrn on the dancefloor!), and stood in silence at the Holocaust Memorial.

Back in London Town and in full recovery, I had the chance to attend the world premier

of the final Harry Potter movie with a good friend that works in the industry

and has interviewed all of the stars. What a premier to be my first taste of the red carpet.

Trafalger Square was rammed and walking past TV crews in front of the

National Gallery was something to be taking in for a moment (for life). The red carpet took me

about 25 minutes. It include owls, death eaters, Diagon Alley set, dude from made in Chelsea

and some crazy fans!

Watching the footage on the main screen was amazing. I had Jonathan Ross

and Tom Felton near me. I had managed to squeeze in the previous one on my itunes

just before I left and I am so glad. The last instalment is Great! and as good as the forth which is my favourite.

Enough about the movie. It was then onto Old Billingsgate for the after party.

Champagne reception, bowl food, canapes, food bars, candy floss, chocolate fountain and pic n mix,

I was off straight away as I rolled up my sleeves and got stuck in. After a couple of

mojitos I felt brave and approached Ozwald Boateng. The tailor is an ICON!

But what was said is between us.

I also had a chance to chat with Darren Criss of Glee fame about his current trip in london.

His friend told me that they were in a stage show about Harry Potter called A Very Potter Musical.

This can be found on youtube. I can honestly say I would love to work with both these gentlemen.

Unfortunately I was canceled for Black Eyed Peas. Alton Towers only wanted their Photographer.

I think it’s good to share both the ups and the downs in ones career.

It’s one of those things that has not been the

first or the last time. I expect my paths with the grammy award-winning group with cross in the future.

Well, I leave for Western Super Mare soon as I am at T4 opn the Beach all day tomorrow.

The guest list includes Jessie J,  Wretch 32, Katy B and the cast of Made In Chelsea (really not a big deal).

Update soon!
